Hi, I’m Lee
Mumma to two energetic boys, I’ve experienced the heart achingly beautiful highs… and muddled slowly through some confusing sleep deprived lows that are all part of becoming a mother.
They arrived into this world in equally wondrous ways but by completely different birthing journeys. I wish I had informed myself more before I went into labour: truly understanding physiological birth, our choices, how to ask the right questions, when to simply wait …. having this knowledge enables you to listen and trust in your body to birth your baby - your way.
Coming home from the hospital was a shock to us both. Looking back, I know with all my heart I - we - needed support, someone to embrace me during those first precious weeks as I set off on my motherhood journey. I needed that person to nurture every piece of me, create quiet space, really listen to me and guide me while I found my feet as a confident Mumma.
It was during a visit back home that I decided to train as a doula with the Australian Doula College. I wanted to learn more for myself, as we were trying for baby number two, and I wanted to see if it felt like a career that would bring happiness and fulfilment to my days.
Needless to say, I was instantly hooked on all things birth and have been ever since……
